Lufthansa Dinnerware
Using Lufthansa's existing design language, my colleague, Zach Meyer and I developed this dinnerware set for economy class passengers. Extensive research went into developing a form that would be tolerated by the strict confines of an aircraft's galley, and sanitation, as well as the different types of food to be served on the JFK-Frankfurt route. The use of durable and food-safe ceramic infused polymers were agreed upon as the best material for longevity and ecological impact, and cost per serving was kept low with simple but poignant forms. In addition to the forms which we derived from the German based-Bauhaus movement, with its straight edges and curved corners, there was careful consideration into the placement of Lufthansa's hallmark color scheme as to not interfere with the food, and give the appearance of a sanitary eating environment.
